FREMONT -- Area brides-to-be got a close-up look at the latest fashions Sunday, as the Fremont Country Club hosted its first bridal show.
The event was a collaboration of From Dreams to Reality, Bella Cosa Floral Studio and the country club.
Joseph Wasserman, owner of Bella Cosa, said he had talked about the need for a local bridal event set in a reception style.
He said the planning for the bridal show started about a year ago.
Vendors from the Fremont, Bellevue and Toledo areas showed up to advertise their services and make connections with prospective brides and their families.
"It was mostly a way for the vendors to have a way to speak to the brides directly," Wasserman said.
Terri Gallagher, a From Dreams to Reality wedding and event coordinator, said the bridal show was a way to pamper brides as they got information and ideas about their upcoming weddings.
She said guests were served mini-entrees, wedding cake samples and opened the event with a champagne toast to all of the brides.
"We really didn't know what to expect this year. We think the turnout has been great," she said.
Most of the show's guests responded in advance, Gallagher said, and she added that she hoped next year's crowd would be all RSVPs.
The event ran from 1 to 4 p.m. in the country club's main dining area.
A group of models displayed bride and bridesmaid gowns around 2 p.m., followed by brief announcements by local businesses like the Cookie Lady regarding how they could provide services for upcoming weddings.
