NORTH BEND — Vintage wedding dresses lent by thirty women have been on display at Pony Village Mall since the mall’s Wedding Faire earlier this month. The dresses are on display in the windows across from Sears and will be there through Wednesday. They include dresses from women in the community such the one Barbara (Simpson) Griffin, daughter of North Bend founder Louis Simpson, wore in 1948, and the one Judy (Owens) Wetherell, married to North Bend mayor Rick Wetherell, wore in 1966. The oldest dress on display was worn by Elizabeth Baker in 1942 and donated for display by her daughter Becky Richardson.
Bonnie Hayes, marketing director of Pony Village Mall, said she is looking for international dresses for next year’s display. This year’s dresses were modeled on the runway, but next year the dresses will be on display only.
